Great book!!

This was a great book. It made me so happy to "see" all the characters from the first series again. I am so anxious to read the next one that comes out in March. If you like fantasy action stories this is a great read for you. Also even if you have not read the first series you can read this and not be lost at all. Enjoy :)

Great follow up

Great follow up to the The Dragon Oracles. Lots of travelling and character development - and a great deal of care is taken to build up the new storyline and expand the world of the previous books in the series. Old characters are fleshed out even more, and new friends and enemies introduced. And at the centre of it all, Gialyn continues to grow in power. His journey is at the heart of this book and the entire series so far.

A Greenaway Primer

Woods' book is an exellent introduction to Greenaway's films. Woods' covers all of Greenaway's film's up to the Pillow Book. Primarily, as the title suggests, Woods is concerned with the coporeal qualities of Greenaway's cinema (and other things as well but being naked and playing dead is Woods' focus). The book can be a bit thick for those not interested in really getting into Greenaway's films. However, for those who are interested in very astute commentary on one the most interesting and challenging filmmakers working today, I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

Terrain Tactics for Trophy Whitetail Bucks!!!

If you are interested in improving your odds of taking Trophy Bucks, I highly recommend this book! Whether or not you are familiar with reading Topography, aerial or plat maps, you will benefit greatly from Brad Herndon's easy to read book. Pro Tactics and High Percentage Stand Placement tips particularly in hilly terrain features such as saddles,funnels, points, converging hubs, inside corners, etc., etc., provide suggestions to maximize your time in the woods and increase the odds in your favor of getting a shot at that elusive Trophy Buck. I'm 48 yrs. old, been hunting over 40 yrs. This book is an eye opener, it could be used to help you study, reference, discover or re-discover your hunting land in more detail than you may ever have before! Tells it like it is....Maybe a little too good!

This is a great book from start to finish. Hi-quality photos and illustrations along with easy to follow and common sense instructions on where to find the big bucks. My first 5 years hunting, I could count the bucks I saw on ONE hand..not too mention I never filled my tag. Then I started hunting smarter in areas that that this author tells you to look for a buck. I've learned through a lot of hard work and trial and error ( mostly error ) on where to find the big deer, but if I had this book when I first started deer hunting I would have many more trophies on my wall to show for it. I have been able to consistently see and kill deer in the areas that Brad goes over.
Mr. Herndon tells you how to use a topo map and other tools to find these deer. Of course the hunter has to get out into the field to experience the truth of this book, but the book is a GREAT start. It goes over alot of common sense basic stuff such as wind direction and using funnels and other land features to find and catch your buck before he knows of your whereabouts. But common sense basics is what alot of us forget when we go out into the woods. You can't just pick any spot in the woods and hope to find the big guys - you have to exercise common sense. Meanderless wanderings in the woods can get you lucky sometimes but it's much better to have a plan of action and work it. This book is a must have for any deer hunter. I can only hope that my competitive hunting buddies don't buy it, because I want to own the bragging rights over them for years to come. ;)

About the Author
Michael Levy, PhD, is the Charles Clarke Reynolds Professor of Marketing and Director of the Retail Supply Chain Institute at Babson College. He received his PhD in business administration from The Ohio State University and his undergraduate and MS degrees in business administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He taught at Southern Methodist University before joining the faculty as professor and chair of the marketing department at the University of Miami. Professor Levy has developed a strong stream of research in retailing, business logistics, financial retailing strategy, pricing, and sales management. He has published over 50 articles in leading marketing and logistics journals, including the Journal of Retailing, Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and Journal of Marketing Research. He currently serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Retailing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Logistics Management, International Journal of Logistics and Materials Management, ECR Journal, and European Business Review. He is coauthor of Retailing Management, 6e (2007), the best-selling college-level retailing text in the world. Professor Levy was co-editor of Journal of Retailing from 2001–2007. Professor Levy has worked in retailing and related disciplines throughout his professional life. Prior to his academic career, he worked for several retailers and a housewares distributor in Colorado. He has performed research projects with many retailers and retail technology firms, including Accenture, Federated Department Stores, Khimetrics, Mervyn’s, Neiman Marcus, ProfitLogic (Oracle), Zale Corporation, and numerous law firms. He co-chaired the 1993 Academy of Marketing Science conference and the 2006 Summer AMA conference.

Brandy Barnes is the founder and CEO of Diabetes Sisters, one the fastest-growing online communities for women with diabetes. She lives in Durham, NC. A board-certified anesthesiologist and assistant professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at the University of Southern California, Natalie Strand received her M.D. from the Mayo Medical School, Mayo Clinic. An Excellent Guide to Diabetes for Women...and For Men Too

I just finished reading "A Woman's Guide to Diabetes. A Path to Wellness" by Brandy Barnes MSW and Natalie Strand MD. It was an excellent read. While written in plain, everyday language, for nonmedical people, it is based on solid medical and scientific knowledge. Further, it is published by the American Diabetes Association.

The book largely alternates between chapters discussing the medical/scientific aspects of diabetes, written by Dr. Strand and chapters addressing psychological/emotional issues, written by Ms. Barnes. But what really brings this book to life is that each author has "walked the walk" of living with Type 1 diabetes.

Natalie was diagnosed at age 12 and Brandy a bit later in her early teens. They have liberally shared their own personal history. The book is peppered with their own comments and experiences. They share their fears, struggles and concerns along with later successes and triumphs.

This is a book that sheds light on a very common, but often misunderstood disease. There are about 27 million individuals in the United States with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. When you add parents, siblings, spouses, loved ones to that figure, there are at least 100 million folks in the US affected by diabetes. The book doesn't skimp on the difficulties and challanges of living with diabetes, but ultimately points the way to success and wellness.

Finally, while this book is geared towards women's issues, at least 80% of the material applies to men as well. And perhaps the people that just might get the most out of this book are the spouses, significant others and parents of loved ones with diabetes. Now...an important disclosure...I am Natalie's Dad. But I am also a physician and the father of two Type 1 children, Natalie and her 37 year old brother, who was diagnosed just a year ago.

Even though as a physician, I know, and have learned a lot, about diabetes. But, as I read Brandy and Natalie's book, I was somewhat surprised about how much more I learned. I wish I could have had a book like this 25 years ago when Natalie was first diagnosed.

In their book, Brandy and Natalie ask the question "Are there things about diabetes that have actually improved your life?" The answer was "Yes!" And in many surprising ways. An increased appreciation of life, friends and family. A commitment to make a difference. Enjoying healthy nutrition and lifestyle.

For Natalie and I, I know our Father/Daughter relationship was strengthened and enriched. For her, diabetes was never an obstacle. She likes to say "Diabetes is a challange, not a limitation"...and perhaps even an opportunity.

I like how it includes both Mrs

I just finished reading "A Woman's Guide to Diabetes: A Path to Wellness" by Brandy Barnes MSW and Natalie Strand, MD. This is one of the first books on Diabetes that I authentically could identify and relate to. I like how it includes both Mrs.Barnes and Dr.Strand's medical and emotional perspectives. Although I do not have diabetes, I come from a family (both parents)
side with a long history of diabetes. This is a book I will positively recommend to each and everyone. My husband's family as well. Thank You, Ladies for your compassion and empathy in writing this book. Truly, Vickie Null

A must-read! Especially if you're new to living with diabetes!

Especially if you're new to life with diabetes, this book is a must! While there are so many books in the world that can give you straight-old information on diabetes, there are very few that can lift you up and remind you that you're not alone -- and this is one of those books! Nat and Brandy are real women, living real lives with diabetes, and their combined experiences and expertise provides a perfect mix of need-to-know-facts delivered in a way that is helpful, not lecturing or scary, with true life. Knowledgable, compassionate, and completely legit -- these women know what life is like with diabetes and they shared their wisdom in a way that is genuine and comforting.
